Plum Sauce

  • 6 fresh plums, seeds removed
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup apple puree
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 tablespoon garlic, minced

Combine all ingredients in a pot and simmer until plums are very soft, about 15 to 20 minutes. Remove cinnamon stick and allow to cool. Pour into a blender or food processor and blend until smooth. Use immediately or refrigerate for up to a week.  Can multiply the quantity and either can or freeze in freezer bags as well.

  1. Looks yummy! The last plums I bought at the store were a disappointment. I bought them even though they were not ripe thinking they would soften in a few days. No. Had the last one yesterday, two weeks after being purchased at the store. Almost zero flavore, no sweetness. Such a waste. I miss having them fresh from someone’s tree.

    • Bethany, are you able to plant a couple of plum trees in your garden?? I believe two trees would provide a bounty that would justify the cost and which would provide both beauty and deliciousness. (Can you tell I have gone well and truly organic?? LOL)

Please let me know what you think
